And the results are in!
A nice mix of predicted nominees and some surprises. Just how I like it. Because if a schmuck like me can accurately predict what’s going to happen, we’re all in a lot of trouble. Overall biggest shock: Revolutionary Road is almost completely snubbed and The Reader, a film I was really excited about but heard disappointing reviews for, is all over the place.

As I wait in anticipation for the Oscar nominations to be announced tomorrow morning, I thought I’d highlight some of the best films/performances I saw this past year.

saw spring awakening last nite
and wish i hadn’t, or at least wish i hadn’t had to buy the ticket at full price. but i was in a bind, as it closes on sunday and i’ll be heading home til saturday.
why did this win the tony for best musical? i honestly believe many people who say they like it are just doing so to not come off as prudes.

since being back in new york for four days i have:
seen a broadway musical
checked out the van gogh colors of the night exhibit at the moma
ate at a new neighborhood restaurant
seen doubt and rachel getting married
trekked all around this crazy town trying to avoid the millions of tourists
last nite i had the most amazing new york nite.
yesterday morning i tried again for gypsy tickets. i again rolled out of bed, threw on my gym shoes, brushed my teeth, and was out the door. i power walked down to south street seaport and found the tkts line to be, thanks to the holiday weekend, double what it normally is. but determined to fulfill a lifelong dream of seeing patti lupone perform (and slowly running out of time before the final...
