And the results are in!
A nice mix of predicted nominees and some surprises. Just how I like it. Because if a schmuck like me can accurately predict what’s going to happen, we’re all in a lot of trouble. Overall biggest shock: Revolutionary Road is almost completely snubbed and The Reader, a film I was really excited about but heard disappointing reviews for, is all over the place. Best Actress Must see The...

And the Oscar (should) goes to...
As I wait in anticipation for the Oscar nominations to be announced tomorrow morning, I thought I’d highlight some of the best films/performances I saw this past year. Best Actress This was the Year of the Woman. So many incredible performances. Of the movies I’ve seen, this is who I’d put in my five: Meryl Streep, Doubt Anne Hathaway, Rachel Getting Married Angelina Jolie,...

last nite i had the most amazing new york nite.
yesterday morning i tried again for gypsy tickets. i again rolled out of bed, threw on my gym shoes, brushed my teeth, and was out the door. i power walked down to south street seaport and found the tkts line to be, thanks to the holiday weekend, double what it normally is. but determined to fulfill a lifelong dream of seeing patti lupone perform (and slowly running out of time before the final...

new york: the city where everything is...
after my red bull incident last nite (ie, not being able to fall asleep until six am), i awoke at one and decided today was the day i would see lifelong idol patti lupone in gypsy. thankfully i live in new york city and the great white way is only three subway stops away from my apt. i called to make sure she’d be performing, realized tickets were about to be released to the masses at the...
