“can i try the oreo cookies?”
“me too, please!” I quip from the background.
mc licks her tiny sample, a blank look on her face.
“it’s not very flavorful,” i say
“yeah.”
this is our routine for getting samples at tasti and not buying anything. but instead of slipping out “disappointed,” mc throws a curveball.
“when do you have peanut butter?”
“i can make it right now for you,” tony, the tast-ista, tells us.
and thus, we’ve uncovered one of new york’s best kept secrets: you do not have to wait for your favorite flavor to pop up on the calendar—- you can get any flavor you want, on the spot. (well, maybe only if you go to the tasti on 36th and 3rd.)
with so many options, it was hard to choose just one. we decided on smores and brown sugar. mc was a happy little girl.
